Willow shoulder bags …. Held at my studio, Gig Mill, Nailsworth

A 2-day course making these beautiful willow bags. We will start with a pre-dried oval hoop and learn the Catalan style of building a base. From there you will have the chance to practise two or three different weave patterns to build up the sides with a choice of colours of Somerset and locally grown willow. We will finish with a rod border before fitting leather shoulder straps with brass rivets. You will be gently guided throughout the process and each willow handbag will be unique. Suitable for those with a little experience weaving with willow, or confident beginners. Complexity of weaves can be tailored to suit the individual; everyone can learn something new.

All materials and tools provided.

On each day there will be the option to walk the 5 minutes to the Ruskin Mill cafe to eat, or bring your own food to eat by the lakes. I might suggest we do a shared lunch one of the days. There is a kitchen available to use at the studio. Tea/coffee and cake provided.
